The Prince Of Detroit, Lee Rogers Craton. He was the influence and style for Marvin Gaye. Mike Hanks created D-Town Records for Lee Rogers. Hanks had all ready recorded dozens of groups including the Staple Singers, and others on D-Town, but after signing Rogers, all releases on D-Town for several years was just dedicated to Rogers. Rogers Music did not appeal to the radio masses, but he was king of the jukebox.

Marlin, Texas was a music-loving town. The folks there loved gospel and R&B. I got a chance to see and listen to recordings and artists that I could never have found in Lancaster, California where Country & Western tastes ran high.
One August day, I came across a 45-rpm single that had over 50 records in the same bin. That was unusual, because most of the records in the bins contain only ten copies. This particular record was on a bright yellow label. The label letters were drawn in big black block letters that seemed to shout the label name: D–TOWN! The artist was named Lee Rogers, and the “A” side of the record was “I Want You To Have Everything.”
It was close to the end of the work day. The heat had broken and the little record store filled up with people. I found myself being pushed aside by the older ladies as they kept coming over to this D-Town bin to purchase this record. Lee must have sold over ten records in less than five minutes . . . and I was so excited and impressed to think of the implications that this could have on my own life.
I was not a stranger to the gentle art of dreaming, nor a novice to the songwriting and recording process. I had been recording in my family’s garden shack in Lancaster for over two years. I had many songs that I had already written. I wanted very much to see them pressed and released. Watching the people flock to the bin to buy Lee’s record made me feel that an angel must have brought me to this place. I knew on the spot that I wanted to make records and learn how to market them.
As I watched and witnessed this frenzy of record-selling, I also made up my mind to learn more about Lee Rogers. I made a silent vow to myself that I was going to meet this guy one day. Little did I know that I would be his songwriter and record producer some 14 years later.

Merrell Fankhauser - Signals From Malibu/Messages From The Dome (2014) review
Happy Holidays To You To !
Attached
are MP3's of two songs from my wiggy new single currently getting
radio play on 75 stations, "Messages From The Dome" and "Signals From
Malibu". "Symphonic Sci Fi Instrumental Surf' style ! Both songs
feature strange radio signals believed to have come from a recently
discovered anomaly in the ocean off the coast of Malibu. I've been doing
3 - 4 radio interviews about it a week and the full album will be out
in Dec. A review is included below. Best, M.
Merrell Fankhauser - Signals From Malibu/Messages From The Dome (2014)
review
Merrell Fankhauser "Signals From Malibu" /"Messages From The Dome" (Ocean Records 2014)
A
series of UFO sightings have been reported off the coast of Malibu,
California, prompting belief an underwater base inhabited by an
otherworldly species exists. Enigmatic signals have even been picked up
and conveyed to tape. The New York Center For Extraterrestrial Research
sent some of these recordings to Merrell Fankhauser, who is a serious
scholar of UFOs. The legendary singer, songwriter, guitarist, and 2011
Grammy Nominee was so stoked by what he heard that he added the signals
to this great single, serving as perhaps the first collaboration between
a human and what we deem aliens.
Both
tracks are instrumentals, with "Signals From Malibu" rolling and
strolling with slinky and swanky tempos. An inspiring interaction of
slightly-buttered blues tones and stimulating surf rock riffs converge
in perfect unison with the mysterious beeping sounds that give the piece
a real "Twilight Zone" aura. Equally outstanding is "Messages From The
Dome," which favors an orchestral stance. Elegant piano work, tethered
to a symphonic production and Merrell's melodic guitar mastery, not to
mention those strange and buzzing signals, provide the cut with shade
upon shade of beauty and agility. A sense of serenity washes over these
sonically gorgeous instrumentals, employing the impression that whoever
or whatever is behind the signals comes in peace. Word has it that a
full-length CD of "Signals From Malibu" will be available shortly, which
is certainly good news. Should the beings responsible for the signals
get wind of Merrell's project, I am sure they would approve. Merrell's
creations are always immensely heartfelt and creative, and "Signals From
Malibu"/"Message From The Dome" catches him once again pushing barriers
and enjoying himself while doing so.

Asia Sky Gillam
Asia Sky sound is very different and unique!!! She can go far in this business with that!!!
---- Def Jam A&R
Asia Sky Gillam is a singer/songwriter that was born on May 11, 1992. She is the middle child of three children to her parents, Nikki and Curtis Gillam Sr. Asia has lived in various locations including, Maryland, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Suffolk, England, located
about an hour and a half north of London, where she grew up and graduated high school.
Asia Sky developed a love for music at the young age of three. She became fascinated by the sound of the piano and had a burning desire to learn how to play. Destined to become familiar with the amazing musical tool, Asia Sky decided to learn on her own by listening to different sounds and trying to play them. In sixth grade, Asia began to play clarinet in her school's concert band. By ninth grade, she was the section leader in her school's marching band.
Shortly after Asia turned 15, she lost her mother to leukemia. Because her mother was also trying to follow her dreams as a singer around the time of her death, it inspired Asia to take her own singing seriously and sing openly. Singing was a talent she hid from her mother, because, as a young teenager, she was too embarrassed to sing, when her mother's voice was so great.
Asia began modeling, and entered into various Talent Shows and plays, where she received many great reviews. She sung at many school events, including her high school graduation. By the end of her senior year of high school, she was voted "Most Talented."
It wasn’t until Asia turned 18 that everything started to change for her. When she met Jamel “Barewolf” Payne of Major Sound Music Group and Anthony Davis of Jamzone Management, together they have molded Asia into an outstanding Pop Artist.
Asia has interviewed with DIG Magazine, a prestigious magazine out of Baton Rouge, La, She is the Featured artist on “The Fantasy Tour”, and is currently working on her first solo album. There is a world of things to come to from Asia Sky, this is only the beginning.
