Bio:
Singer/songwriter/producer Bob Sachnoff (“Papa Satch”) started his music career as a founding member of Long Island Indie bands Black Horizon, Blank Stare, and Mercy Hit. He was also an integral member of the seminal rock band Spoof. As producer, he wrote, sang on and organized the critically acclaimed Actress, Doggin’ It album. In recent years, he has toured many of the top clubs in the NYC Metro area, and has been interviewed on radio stations.
Bob started his musical journey at an early age. Immersed in the great music of the sixties and seventies, he was impressed by legends such as Smokey Robinson, the Beatles, Neil Young and others. He started playing guitar at fourteen, and from then on, developed his career as a band member, playing charity events, school “Battles of the Bands” and parties during his high school years, with his band Black Horizon, and then joining the seminal band Spoof. After high school, Bob wrote, produced and performed on the critically acclaimed album, Actress, Doggin It.

As always, his passion for songwriting has been his motivating force. In the last few years, Bob has played in numerous bands, including Ooloo, Blank Stare and Mercy Hit. He has produced two self-released albums, No Fall Down and Open Dreams, and won the Golden Viking Award for Best Acoustic Rock Artist in 2007. From the early days, Rob’s music has had common threads: the love of a good tune; the belief and inspiration that good songs make life fuller and more enjoyable. With So Far ‘til Now, Bob believes he has contributed to that cause: some great-sounding tunes that everyone can relate to.

Steve Ronsen is a versatile singer, songwriter and musician with a unique brand of guitar-driven pop/rock. He is also an award-winning musical director and a member of the well-known band Quikdraw. Steve produces his own and other musicians’ songs. This musician can do it all – guitarist, bass player, drummer, and vocalist – and is a top-tier performer.

Background Notes:
In 2016, the sudden death of Bob’s father served as a catalyst for a whole new bevy of music. Bob contacted Steve to talk about producing a new album around this surge of emotional creativity. So Far ‘til Now is that album. With the opening song and lead single Shallow Water the listener is introduced to Bob’s new music, a taste of rock with a tinge of country twang. Nine more songs follow, including Run for Cover and Time.

Jolene ft Maiko Watson

Artist: The Rhythm Express
Title: Jolene ft Maiko Watson
Label: 7 Arts/Side Door Records
Genre(s): Americana / Reggae / Country

“This is great...love the arrangement and Maiko’s vocals. We will add to Fresh Air.” Sandy Mowat – Producer Fresh Air CBC National Radio Canada

“Excellent version.” Kerry Doole – FYI Music News

A few months back I was turned on to a haunting YouTube clip of Dolly Parton singing her most recorded song, “Jolene”. The original 1973 track had been slowed from single format to long playing 33 1/3 speed. That listening experience was both eerie and a revelation. No doubt, Dolly Parton possesses a grand set of pipes. Slowed down it becomes more evident, in that every inflection, bend in a vowel, a word is extraordinary and rocked with emotion.

With that in mind and captivated by the change of tempo, I began hearing other possibilities. What if this was done with a reggae feel - early Bob Marley and Wailer’s rhythm section style and backing vocals reminiscent Marley’s backup singers, the I-Threes. Acutely aware Parton and a cappella sing group Pentatonix just won a Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Award with an updated version of ‘Jolene’; the song’s alluring story, sumptuous melody and sweeping beauty was more than the Rhythm Express could resist. In fact, we decided to keep the song’s country charm with a guest appearance from guitarist Tim Boviconti of Ron Sexsmith/ Burton Cummings fame. Tim’s lap steel, acoustic and electric guitar keeps our ‘Jolene’ rooted in tradition.

Great songs lend themselves to all sorts of interpretation. ‘Jolene’ rocks our world.

Enjoy

Allegra Jane melds classical training with deep hip- hop inspiration to create a neo-soul, R&B sound that is both familiar and completely refreshing.

Hailing from New England with immersive experiences studying music in NYC, Germany and West Africa, Jane blends diverse influences to create a sound that former Clipse road manager Sommer McCoy calls "effortlessly soulful". Her fiery debut single, "So Damn Heavy," is taken from her forthcoming EP, slated for digital release in March 2017 with accompanying performances throughout the NYC area.

The record is a collaboration with veteran producer Shareef "TekMaschine" Islam of Azteknique Productions. Over his twenty year career, Islam has worked with many genre luminaries including Lauryn Hill, Raphael Siddiq, Q-Tip, Mos Def, De La Soul, Jay Z, Busta, Rhymes, and Missy Elliot. He and Allegra Jane first forged a creative partnership while she was enrolled in his production course at NYC's Dubspot music school.

They have spent the past year honing a signature sound that weaves Allegra Jane's velvety timbre through a mosaic of hazy RNB instrumentals.

'So Damn Heavy' is Allegra Jane's fiery debut single off of her forthcoming EP, slated for digital release in 2017. Her collaboration with veteran producer Shareef 'Azteknique' Islam creates a hard hitting and effortlessly soulful track that's a fresh take on a familiar sound.
