Swoop Swoop

Somewhere in the Shadows is the first album to be released under Gorman’s Swoop Swoop alias, on Sean Hocking’s now Hong Kong-based label Metal Postcard.

Filled with delicious, subtle takes on acoustic guitar and minor forays into electronic elements, there’s no one phrase to pin down the aesthetic.

Instead, there are influences, sounds, and fragments. “I love Bob Dylan,” Gorman says. “I remember listening to ‘Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright’ once and that really affected me, the sound and everything about it. I was into the blues for a long time, not so much anymore.”Harmonious Beach Boys pop also gets a look-in too, alongside a childhood fascination with punk.

“When I was in high school I listened to Dead Kennedys, American punk bands, but then I kind of got over that.

........the end result is the gloriously hazy, woozy world of Swoop Swoop that evokes Saturday afternoons, sunlight and carefree memories

Where the Wild Things Are: an album by Wildscape

Where the Wild Things Are: an album by Wildscape

On August 31st, 2015, Wildscape released their debut album "Where the Wild Things Are" on Soundcloud. The subject matter of this album comes from stories that the members wrote themselves, that alude to real life situations that they've been through. Initially, the album sounds like the chronicals of some "rich kids" whose parents kick them out and send them to a camp filled with inner city kids where they learn about life and the value of money. In real life terms, the "camp" is actually high school, and the "rich kids" are the members of Wildscape, and with these stories they describe what drugs have done to them and their friends, dysfunctional relationships with family members, and even feelings of suicide. Throughout the journey of this album, the listeners grow to love and feel for the characters and their situations. The album contains executive production from jopippins, and vocals from jopippins, JK, ProdiJ, and Nick Jordan. The album can be found here: https://soundcloud.com/wildscapemusic/sets/where-the-wild-things-are and on iTunes.

Kally O'Mally

Few powerhouse talents are capable of taking a vision from inception all the way through to product and Kally O'Mally is certainly one of them.    O'Mally hails from a Kentucky lineage that has generations of musical roots,  "I was enthralled by the music of my youth and far more interested in the stereo than the television.  My parents had a classic country and Southern Rock record collection that consisted of Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Anne Murray, Barbara Mandrell and others."  That love of music laid the foundation of what's clearly a longtime pursuit towards mastery and a willingness to push her own limits to bring her music to fruition.
O'Mally grew up in South Florida which helped cultivate her deep love of world musics and Latin rhythms. "South Florida is steeped in an incredible variety of world sounds, rich horn sections and energetic percussive beats; congas, bongos, steel drums, you name it.   Anything to get people grooving and and dancing and having a good time.  When I've accomplished that, I'm happy."  O'Mally has a particular knack for combining styles and can move from writing a classic traditional sounding song like, Bourbon on my Deathbed to the more raucous and tongue in cheek, Wild West Medicine Show.  An admitted computer geek with a competitive side, she was inspired to jump into sound engineering so she could fully execute her musical vision.  Being a multi-instrumentalist makes it even easier for her.  O'Mally is at home and comfortable playing guitar, keyboard, bass, ukulele and a whole host of percussion instruments.

Growing up as a child Ishmael was bounced from shelter to shelter Home to Home and struggled many days just to eat and stay warm in the windy city. As life moved foward and Ishmael got older being Exposed to violence, drugs, & crime like many Ghetto kids Ishmael did what he had to do just to survive even if that meant selling Drugs and Robbing. And what may have seem like a tragedy and a war zone to many it was always the norm for ishmael and people like him. Ishmael's only escape was his music. Through writing music and singing in the streets Ishmael was given the name IsH-iLLa (ISH Meaning the Man That was shorten from his name ISHMAEL and ILLA Meaning GIFTED or TALENTED) IsH-iLLa was truly the THE GIFTED MAN. He was the best at what he did amongst the people he knew, but as life worsened and many died, IsH-iLLa's GIFT started to become to big to compress in the Ghetto's of CHICAGO he was surrounded in.Selling drugs in his old neighborhoods for the last time IsH-iLLa got a greyhound ticket and In 2002 Ish-Illa moved to Los Angeles to FIGHT to get more than what he was raised in, poverty, homelessness, and crime. He believed he could do that by going somewhere he's never gone to accomplish something that many told him he couldnt accomplish with his music. After arriving in L.A. Ish-Illa lived on Skid Row and spent his time writing music and performing it on the streets. After some time he started performing outside popular night clubs in HOLLYWOOD.
? Through doing this Ish-Illa started getting noticed by many figures in the entertainment industry but none of which gave Ish-Illa a chance. During this time Ish-Illa began dating Shinobu who would one day take him off the streets from being homeless and become his wife. Ish-Illa was eventually discovered by Rich Glorious who was business partners with Ice-T. Ish-Illa was then signed to their entertainment company.Though Ish-Illa was finally on his way to success and had left his negative Chicago ways in the past for good. From 2003 to 2005 Ish-Illa's time was spent between jail and the streets. Being in the streets and in jail was beginning to wear Ish-Illa down and he was getting tired. In 2005 Ish-Illa turned his life over to CHRIST, now realizing this was the path God had chosen for him in preparation for his future. ALLI

Alli was born in Laurel, Maryland in 1996.  She started singing at the age of three and was writing short stories at the age of five.  Soon thereafter, she began writing poetry.  Through her creativity, she developed a passion for writing songs, and she would practice daily to memorize her songs so that she could perform in front of her family.

As the years went by, Alli's mother saw her daugher's natural talent develop as well as her dedication to her craft.  At the age of 10, Alli's mother decided to test her gift and expand her musical talent by getting her a keyboard.  Alli taught herself to play, as it gave her another channel to develop her music writing skills.  Her first song written on the keyboard was called "Too Late".  Her main influences at this age were Amy Lee of Evanescence, Alicia Keys, and Pink.  Alli says that lyrics have always been her most creative expression because words can always depict emotion to the listener, despite the music involved with it.

To challenge her limits even further, Alli received her first guitar when she turned 13.  Alli was fearless as she taught herself to play another instrument.  Alli experienced heartache and pain during this time, due to her parent's divorce.  She found it hard to explain how she was feeling in normal conversation, but it was always so easy to write a song that expressed her emotions.  Even though her vocal and musical talents became her "coping mechanism", she was determined to stay focused and devoted to her craft.

Alli met her producer, D'Aceman Johnson, when she was 14, and he immediately recognized her talent and potential to be a successful music artist.  Since then, they have worked relentlessly in the studio to start making her dream of being a singer, a realtiy.  With the help and mentoring of D'Aceman Johnson, Alli has continued to develop her talents.

In addition, she has done three years of School Open Mic Performances, she had a supporting role in a school play titled, "The Man Who Came to Dinner", participated in School Talent Shows, and performed at various receptions and social events.

Alli's sound is a fusion of Pop, R & B, Hip-Hop, and Jazz.  Her sound is found to be captivating to her listeners.  Her creative concept to her music is more than just an emotional outlet, but a means for her to showcase her passion for music.  Her dream is to move people through song and to develop a fan base that will connect with her music.  Alli says she has been blessed with the gift of music, but it is not her own.  It is to be shared with all who will listen, and maybe, she will be able to help someone or save a life, like music has saved hers.

"LET'S PLAY PRETEND" IS ANYTHING BUT FOR NEW ARTIST ALLI

A budding talent with the vocal-ease and musicality prowess to move millions, teen sensation, Alli, blasts onto the scene with her debut single, "Let's Play Pretend".  Mixing crisp vocals, compelling lyrics and sound production, "Let's Play Pretend" delivers with precision.  A nascent singer/songwriter, Alli began writing poetry at age five and taught herself to play piano and guitar by age 13.  "Let's Play Pretend" showcases Alli's infectious vocals, inspired lyrics, and achieves a heterogeneous sound that is sure to appeal to the masses.

"Let's Play Pretend" is Alli's first single release with Ace Spin Records and is available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and CD Baby.  Alli's eclectic sound appeals to Pop, R&B, Hip-Hop, Alternative, and acoustic music fans alike.  "Her talent is undeniable", says D'Aceman Johnson, Executive Producer for Ace Spin Records.  "Alli's voice captivates your senses.  Her passion for music and songwriting comes through in every lyric and she's much more than a studio artist.  She's the real deal."

Counting Amy Lee of Evanescence, Alicia Keys, and Pink as her musical inspirations, Alli's music is grounded, yet refreshingly modern.  A Maryland native, Alli's sound embodies music impressionism, a phrase she coined to describe her music, that "appeals to the human senses through song, while attracting as many who will listen."  With strong rhythms, solid vocals and solid production, Alli says, "I want to move people through song.  I want to cultivate a diverse fan base that will connect with my music, my sound."

Poor Richard’s Almanac

Poor Richard’s Almanac began in the winter of 2013 when singer/songwriter Andrew Ferriell returned to
his home outside of Detroit Michigan after spending some time living in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
After reflecting about his life and time spent away from home, he began writing songs. At first it was just a song that came to him that was later put down into a 15 page short story, and then the writing became a full out obsession. He was spending about five hours a day singing, and playing, while the rest of his time was spent working. While he was working Andrew was composing and writing bits and pieces in his head to later put down in ink.
Then while driving he would often leave voice memos running for 15 to 20 minutes while he sang random lines and melodies that could be used and peiced together later. It became his life. Along the way he teamed up with guitarists/piano player Jacob Panzak and the two became Poor Richard’s Almanac. The two became brothers and it was clear that there was a bond that was not created by accident.
Three months Later In The Desert was recorded in the basement of a close friend (Tyler Sawiki), who was the one who initially taught Andrew how to play guitar in the first place.
This first single "Chelsea" is a beautiful and melodic folk song about heartbreak, and moving on. With has strength in catchy and addictive vocal melodies and guitars, it almost sound like a lullaby. The song gives the feeling of falling into a dream.
Other singles like "Valley Ghosts" gives an ora all its own as Andrew explains it, "Normally when you assess the relationship of a ghosts and it’s habitat you think of a home, or a graveyard. However, I place mine in a valley. I’ll explain. I wrote this song about a personal ghost of mine. I began creating the song in my head during a drive through northern Montana when the sun was rising over this great expanse. I could just feel an incredible serge of energy watching that sun rise and looking over the plains of Montana. I was going about 80 mph and there was no one in sight and It felt as if I was running from the things I had left Michigan in part of. Thus the name Valley Ghosts"
The entire album was completed in just 24 hours, and Poor Richards Almanac has been playing shows as well as working their latest album, Silent River, which is due Feburary of 2015.

New Country Matt VanFossen

New Country Matt VanFossen

January 21, 2015 in News by Indie Artist Radio

Matt VanFossenImagine the rush of performing your new single to more than 80,000 country music fans on the main stage at ‘Jamboree In The Hills’, one of the top music festivals in the country. Afterwards, you might exchange niceties with superstar Tim McGraw before he goes on stage to rock the crowd. Ohio native Matt VanFossen doesn’t have to imagine because this is his new reality.

With the release of his new EP, “BOOM,” VanFossen is taking his career to exciting new levels. The hard driving title track is the first single and has already become a fan favorite. It recently won West Virginia-based radio station 97.9 WKKW’s fan-voted “Smackdown” for the maximum of four days straight, beating out new singles from artists such as Dolly Parton and Colt Ford.

“I feel like I’m growing into the artist that I’m meant to be. In doing so, I’ve realized that up-tempo songs are fun,” he says. “When the audience hears the music start for ‘BOOM,’ everybody’s ready. I think it’s the hook of the song and the driving music. It demands your attention.”

The EP follows the breakout success of 2012’s full-length “I Didn’t Come Here to Lose.” Two singles from the album (“Almost Stopped Dreaming” and “This Time Around”) managed to break the Top 100 on the Mediabase country charts. A third single, “A Woman’s Words,” was listed as one of the Top 25 fan-voted songs on Nashville-based Internet radio station NIXA. In addition, his ‘Jamboree’ performances were broadcasted to TV viewers across the Ohio Valley and he received coverage on local newscasts.

The success of the album eventually allowed VanFossen to get a high profile booking at Nashville’s legendary Douglas Corner Cafe, a renowned venue for both emerging and established songwriters/performers.

“It was a surreal experience to be in a room full of tourists and peers in Nashville. Then, to be singing my music in-the-round with three other artists was unbelievable,” he says. “To have all the talent there recognize me for my voice was just killer. They all thought I was from there. I’ll never forget that.”

During his short career, VanFossen has shared the stage with national recording artists including David Nail, Craig Campbell, Brooks & Dunn, and more.
In 2013, he was asked to become one of the main stage artists at the Ohio-based ‘Jamboree in the Hills’ festival. For the past two years, he has opened up for the likes of Neal McCoy, Aaron Tippin, and The Oak Ridge Boys.

The newly released “BOOM” EP aims to cement his status as a hit-maker with a voice that grabs your attention and refuses to let go. Mike Ofca produced the project at Innovation Studios in Steuvenville, Ohio.

“Mike has this way of turning everything into ear candy. He pays attention to the details and is always listening to see what to add to it to make the song better than it already is,” VanFossen says.

The EP is available at all digital outlets and is distributed by TuneCore. It contains five songs, including “She’s Just Like That” and the feisty “Close If It Ain’t It.” VanFossen says “She’s Just Like That” is his favorite on the project and the song helped him realize the album’s theme.

“The ‘BOOM’ EP is all about the expression of intense feelings. I was listening to “She’s Just Like That” in the car today and thought to myself, ‘you never hear a song from a male artist that talks about love in such an extreme way’ … ,” he says. “The song is a way for a guy to say how intense his love is. It gets your attention but in a different way than ‘BOOM.’ It’s like a summer breeze.”

Fans can also expect to hear more about the relationship he sang about on the emotional “Leave Me” from the last album. While “Leave Me” was about a deteriorating relationship that no one had the guts to end, the musical sequel is more of a hopeful coda. “Get To You” picks up the story after the girl is gone and the guy is forced to move on.

“I remember hearing the song and thinking ‘I know there’s somebody out there that will relate’ … ,” he says. “It was the last song we cut vocals on and I thought to myself, ‘put yourself in the place of what you would be like if you found somebody that finally made you forget all the pain and suffering you’ve been through in your life.’”

Then tragedy struck just as his career began to take off. VanFossen’s beloved mother Dot passed away suddenly due to a stroke. Her death was jolting and almost caused him to give up on his dreams. He recalls feeling broken after leaving the hospital and contemplating the end to his career. “ … But then I turned on the radio and my song was playing. Then, I knew in my heart that was a sign from Mom to keep doing this,” he says.

Fast forward to 2014 and VanFossen is revisiting his signature song with a newly recorded version created especially for “BOOM.” He calls the track the centerpiece of his music.

“It was the first song that I had on the radio and the only song my mom and I heard on the radio together. It’s a timeless song and I feel now at 30, I’ve lived so much life. I feel like every step of the way, it becomes more of my signature song,” he says. “Now’s the time to bring out a song like this into the world. Everybody’s reminiscing about when life was simple. It’s a way of remembering your innocence.”

Whether he’s performing a hard driving rocker such as “BOOM” or a heartbreaking ballad like “Get To You,” VanFossen’s live shows are not to be missed. His voice is often compared to artists such as Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts, and Blake Shelton. Not bad company for an artist that continues to forge his own path as an independent artist.

“I want people to know that I am a genuine, driven, hard working artist that cares about them and wants to interact,”
